Visible Music College Student Amadi Bolton Receives Olthoff Scholarship
Lansing, IL, Feb. 4, 2021 -- Ron and Julie Olthoff have been honored with a Named Scholarship by friends and local churches for their years-long work establishing the Visible Music College-Lansing Campus. Merrillville resident Amadi Bolton has been chosen as the Olthoff Scholar for the 2020-2021
The Olthoff Scholarship has a church and missions focus and provides $500 per semester for a qualified student. Amadi Bolton is a Songwriting and Business Management major who lives in Merrillville, IN. She attends St. Mary Catholic Church in Griffith, loves working with children, and
looks forward to the world’s return to healthy in-person interaction. On the Visible campus in Lansing, she takes voice and piano. Other courses, like her favorite English class, are taken remotely.
Amadi, which means ‘God’s blessing’, dreams of writing songs, singing, and performing. “I want to contribute to the world with as much positivity as possible!” She wants to be a songwriter, as a Christian, but not necessarily a writer of solely Christian songs. She wants to be for all genres,
where a song about a ‘higher power’ could lead others to learn she’s singing about Jesus.
Julie Olthoff was recently re-elected to the Indiana House of Representatives, serving District 19. Ron Olthoff is an electrician with Land O’ Frost. Together, they and members of several sister churches in
Chicagoland came together in 2018 to support the expansion campus of Visible Music College, founded in 2000 in Memphis, TN, by Ken Steorts of Dove-nominated Skillet fame. The Lansing campus is located at 3404 Lake Street, and currently has 12 students enrolled. Visible is an accredited college with bachelor's, master's degrees, and certificate programs.
