Program Overview

The Modern Music program offers training in skill and character for musicians, artists, and leaders. We want our students to succeed in modern music, either serving in the church or performing in today’s music industry. This program and curriculum will prepare you for a career in popular music. We give you the academic knowledge, vocational experience, and spiritual growth needed to succeed. Ultimately, we want you to succeed in the field of ministry AND life. Whether you sing, lead worship, play guitar, horns, strings, drums, or any musical instrument, Visible Music College has a place for you – in the band! Our unique program places you into a band in your first semester of college. You will be playing the best music in the world, learning band dynamics, signing contracts, recording, and playing live. All in your first year.

Program Details

Admission Requirements

First-Time Freshmen

  1. Must give credible witness of a personal salvation experience and a growing relationship with Jesus Christ.
  2. Complete and submit an application form.
  3. Submit two references: one Pastoral and one Personal. References must not be related to the student.
  4. Read, sign, and return the Visible Code of Conduct and Statement of Faith.
  5. Complete and pass an Audition and Student Life Interview.
  6. Submit an official high school transcript with a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5.
  7. Students under 24 years of age must complete and pass the Wonderlic test or submit an ACT score of 18 or higher, or SAT score of 960 or higher.
  8. The ACT or SAT test must have been taken within 5 years of the academic term for which the student is applying.
  9. Applicants to the Bachelor of Arts in Modern Music program must place into Theory 1 after completing the Theory Placement Test taken during the Audition OR successfully complete a Remedial Theory course prior to enrollment in Theory courses.

Transfer Students

  1. Must give credible witness of a personal salvation experience and a growing relationship with Jesus Christ.
  2. Complete and submit an application form
  3. Submit two references: one Pastoral and one Personal. References must not be related to the student.
  4. Read, sign, and return the Visible Code of Conduct and Statement of Faith.
  5. Complete and pass an Audition and Student Life Interview.
  6. Proof of high school diploma or equivalent.
  7. Must have previous college credit (12 credit hours minimum) with a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5 (on a 4.0 scale) on your most recent college transcript.
  8. Applicants to the Bachelor of Arts in Modern Music program must place into Theory 1 after completing the Theory Placement Test taken during the Audition OR successfully complete a Remedial Theory course prior to enrollment in Theory courses.
